This is where the teamwork really begins! #gymtherapy
When and Why did you start at
Heart Mountain Fitness?
January of 2014 - at the other location.
Every year I was losing mobility and my metabolism
was getting slower, so when I heard about Amy's class
I said 'Deanna, we're going!'. It was scary at first, but we
were lucky because it was a small class. The first turkish
getup I did Amy had to help me get up off the ground.
Which class time do you attend?
8:30 Monday Wednesday Friday
What was your first impression of the Gym?
I got to help put the gym together - unloaded crates
as a workout.
The feeling: friendliness - sense of community - camaraderie
How has your training at Heart Mountain Fitness
impacted your life outside of the Gym?
I dropped 18lbs and 2 skirt sizes and have stayed at that point almost 5 years later.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer the April after I started at the gym. I kept going, and Amy would tailer workouts to my strength each day. There's such great support at HMF. I feel like the best defense against cancer reoccurrence is exercise.
What is the worst habit you have that you’ve changed?
I've started being careful about sitting too much. Going to HMF changes my mood - it's physical and mental wellness. It reduces my stress - I sleep better and eat better. I'm more aware of what I'm eating, because I know what it takes to burn it off!
What advice would you give someone new?
Be patient with yourself. Be willing to scale where you are. Don't be afraid to be a beginner.
Outside the gym, what are your Activities / Hobbies?
Skiing - hiking - camping - boating
Do you have a personal Mantra?
Take a Deep Breath.
What kind of music do you work out to?
Amy's Fireball... or something that's easy to move to.
Married. 1 daughter (1 granddaughter), 2 sons
